Nicole Stroik was nominated as a hidden hero due to her love to help her fellow community members whenever she is able.
Nicole is from Stevens Point and in the past several years, she has chaired multiple fundraisers for organizations in the Portage County area. A few times a year, she runs fundraisers on her Facebook page "Fabulousness". This page she created to have a positive place for our community to go to when on Facebook, which has about 2,500 members in our area! She monitors this page and posts positive and funny jokes daily. Also with her page, she asks friends and family to contribute $5 and then takes the time to shop and donate items to local charities including the Humane Society of Portage County, the Cancer Center in town, the Salvation Army, Family Crisis Center, and many more.
Nicole also likes to keep Portage County's rich and strong history alive, by learning all that she can about our community and helping us move forward with the times. She is active with promoting downtown Point as her husband owns Joe's Bar on the square. The bar was founded by Joe Roger, her husband's grandfather, and it has been in business for 60 years!
Nicole enjoys spending time with her husband and daughter as well as giving back to our community. Her favorite thing to do is meet cancer patients in Portage County and gift them with things such as lotions, blankets, gift cards, etc. What our community can learn from her is simple. She believes in reaching out to people and asking how they are because she doesn't like to assume that those in her life are always okay. She values getting to know people and enjoys the saying, "don't ever judge a book by its cover."
Favorite Food: Anything her husband makes
Favorite Books: Biographies
Favorite Quote: "Give a girl a pair of shoes to conquer the world"
Hero: Her grandma
Hardest Truth Learned: Life is short - live each day like your last and stay grateful
Most Deeply Held Belief: Always be there for someone
Thank you, Nicole, for continuously spreading joy in our community! Check out her Facebook page to show some love!
