Brandon Stremkowski is a foster parent, math teacher, and former football coach in Portage County. He should be honored for his involvement in our foster program, school system, and his local church. He was nominated by his mom, who has seen him overcome so much and still be able to look at the positive side of life no mater how difficult it gets. He has a strength and trust in not only God, but also people that that he has never met before. We are absolutely proud to have him in our community and glad to be able to recognize what he does to go above and beyond for his family and for our community.
Brandon is originally from Stevens Point, Wisconsin and he did work at SPASH in the Special Education department for 3 years until given the opportunity to transfer as a full time math teacher at DC Everest High School, where he currently works.
Brandon and his wife Jaycie have been licensed through our foster care program for over 2 years now. His wife was a school counselor at SPASH for a year and after adopting their daughter in Wausau she became a stay-at-home mom. They struggled with infertility issues and also adopted a son last March. At the time they took him in he was about 15 months old and he was fully on oxygen and using a feeding tube. Now that he came into their family he is now fully functioning, however, it was a lot for Brandon and his wife to go through. It was tough to see their son suffer, but God is good and with His help and Brandon and Jaycie's tremendous love and support, it has allowed their son Leo to completely flourish. Having no control on Leo's initial state of health was very tough to overcome.
On the side of his full time job, Brandon helps out teaching classes on Saturday's spending his time helping kids ages 4-12 at his local church. He often takes a lot of time to reflect on things in his life and hopes that people can learn to do that for themselves as well. He deeply believes that you will flourish if you live in truth.
So many things make Brandon happy, especially his faith and love for children. He wants everyone to know that God and Jesus are real.
Brandon and Jaycie will continue to foster and give back to our community. In fact, in January of 2019, Brandon and his wife took in 2 more foster care children to mentor, ages 9 months and 18 months.

Traci Perow - I had the pleasure of getting to know both of these two wonderful people. I took care of their daughter for a brief time. The love that Brandon and Jaycie had for that little girl was so heartwarming!! Jaycie would cry when leaving her daughter at daycare..not because she didn't want her there but because Jaycie wanted to always be with her daughter! Brandon would come in and visit his daughter throughout the day. When he did he would rock her in our rocking chair and they both would fall asleep! The love they showed their daughter was amazing. I am so happy that their family is growing. They have so much love to give. What an inspiration you both are, Brandon and Jaycie. Thanks for trusting in me to take care of Elodie!!
