Tucker is a two and a half year old Australian Labradoodle. Being a certified therapy dog, Tucker bridges the gap between students, community members and law enforcement personal by offering emotional support throughout campus and the community.
The idea of a therapy dog began when she helped with an Officer Wellness/Suicide prevention training program at the Stevens Point Police Department. When she started at the UWSP Police Department it gave her the opportunity to get a therapy dog, she found a breeder that specialized in therapy work.
She trained Tucker to provide assistance for first responders involved in critical incidents and peer support. The program has evolved to using him on campus, the DA’s office (working with victims) and in the community.
